How to Configure Subscribe and Unsubscribe Quick Actions for WhatsApp in BotSailor

To access these system actions in BotSailor, go to Dashboard > Chatbot Manager > Select Bot (WhatsApp account) > Automation > Quick Actions > Un-subscribe / Re-subscribe. To use Unsubscribe inside a chatbot flow, configure a trigger keyword, connect an Interactive Message, and set the button action to System Default Action Button > Unsubscribe.



✓ Before You Begin

TheUnsubscribequick action is a system default action that lets users opt out of business communications. For the flow setup shown in this guide, prepare the trigger keyword, keyword matching type, and the confirmation message you want users to see.

Part 1: Access Un-subscribe / Re-subscribe in Quick Actions


Step 1: Open Quick Actions

From the BotSailor dashboard, navigate to:

Dashboard > Chatbot Manager > Select Bot > Automation > Quick Actions > Un-subscribe

Part 2: Configure Unsubscribe via Flow Block


Step 1: Configure Start Bot Flow

Navigate to Dashboard > Chatbot Manager > Select WhatsApp account > Automation > Keyword Replies.

Double-click the "Start Bot Flow" block.

Enter the trigger keyword, for example "unsubscribe".

Select the keyword matching type, such as Exact keyword match.

Provide a title and click "Save Changes".

Step 2: Add an Interactive Message Block

Drag and drop the "Interactive Message" block onto the flow block (flow builder).

Connect it to the "Start Bot Flow" block.

Configure the block by selecting "Text" as the Header Type, writing the confirmation or reason message, and saving the settings.

Step 3: Configure the Unsubscribe Button

Add a button to the Interactive Message block.

In Button Setup, select "Static" as the method and type "Unsubscribe" as the button title.

Under Button Action, set "When user presses the button" to "System Default Action Button".

Click "Save Changes" to finalize the button configuration.

Part 3: Save and Test the Unsubscribe Flow


Step 1: Review the Complete Flow

Check the Start Bot Flow, Interactive Message, and Unsubscribe button connections before saving.

Step 2: Save and Check the Output

Click the Save button in the upper-right corner, then test the flow from WhatsApp to confirm the configured output.

Part 4: Configure the Re-subscribe Button

The Re-subscribe button follows the same setup process as the Unsubscribe button, but it acts as the system default action for opting back in. Repeat the same procedure and select "Re-subscribe" in the Action Type settings.

Verification: How to Know It Worked

Trigger the flow using the configured keyword. The Interactive Message should display the Unsubscribe button. When the user presses it, the system default Unsubscribe action should be applied and the WhatsApp output should reflect the opt-out action.

Common Troubleshooting


The flow does not start

Recheck the trigger keyword and the selected keyword matching type in the Start Bot Flow configuration.


The button does not perform the Unsubscribe action

Confirm that "When user presses the button" is set to "System Default Action Button" and that Action Type is set to "Unsubscribe".
