Subject: Website WhatsApp Chat Widget Adding Extra /start:WC1/ Text and Breaking Bot Trigger Flow

Hi BS team,

Thank you for all the the help and support you provide,

We are currently experiencing an issue with the website WhatsApp chat widget, when a user clicks a button from the website chat widget, the widget is supposed to send only the trigger message to WhatsApp.

For example, the expected message should be:

Hello, I want to make an Enquiry

However, the widget is automatically adding an extra text/code to the message:

/start:WC1/ (where WC1 is the Reference ID)

So the final message being sent becomes:

Hello, I want to make an Enquiry./start:WC1/

This is causing a problem because our chatbot flow is set to trigger based on the original keyword/message. Since the extra /start:WC1/ text is added, the bot no longer recognizes the trigger properly and the automation flow does not start.

Please help us check why the website chat widget is appending /start:WC1/ to the message and how we can remove or disable it. We need the widget to send only the exact pre-filled message configured on the website button, without adding any extra tracking/start parameter that affects the chatbot trigger.

Kindly look into this and advise on the fix.

Thank you.

Dear Quintech,

Thank you for reaching out on our forum. The Chat Widget is designed to trigger only the bot flow configured within the Chat Widget bot itself — keyword-based triggers from other bots will not apply here.

To achieve your desired setup, you can either build your bot flow directly within the Chat Widget bot, or use buttons to redirect users to different bot flows. Please refer to the attached screenshot for a clearer view of how this works.
