TL;DR:
This tutorial explains how to build a Telegram automation in BotSailor. You’ll set up keyword triggers, a welcome message, interactive buttons, product images, and a sequence campaign with follow-up messages after1 minute, 5 minutes, and 1 day. The guide also covers setting the10:00 AM Asia/Dhakadelivery time, saving the complete flow, and testing the automation in Telegram.

Sequence messages let you automatically send scheduled follow-up messages to Telegram subscribers. They are useful for welcome campaigns, promotions, reminders, lead nurturing, and customer updates.

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create a Telegram sequence in BotSailor using keyword triggers, buttons, images, text messages, and follow-ups scheduled after 1 minute, 5 minutes, and 1 day.

What We Will Create

The example Telegram bot is called Semibot . When a user sends a trigger message such as hello , hi , or start , the bot will:

  1. Send a welcome message.
  2. Display two buttons:
  • Shop now
  • Offers and Updates
  • Send an image when the user selects Shop now .
  • Send a confirmation message when the user selects Offers and Updates .
  • Subscribe the user to a sequence campaign.
  • Send scheduled messages after:
    • 1 minute
    • 5 minutes
    • 1 day

Keyword-triggered replies are useful for starting Telegram conversations automatically when a user sends a specific word or phrase.

    Select:

Step 8: Add the First Button

Add a Button to the welcome Text block.

Configure the first button with the following settings:

    Button title

    Shop now

    When user presses the button

    Select:

    Send Message

After configuring the button, click Save .

The Send Message option allows you to connect the button to another message block inside the Flow Builder.

Step 9: Add the Second Button

Add another button to the same welcome message.

    Configure it as follows:

    Button title

    Offers and Updates

    When user presses the button

    Select:

    Send Message

Configure Button interface showing chatbot button settings with button titles, actions, labels, sequences, and a visual bot flow containing shop and offer options.
Chatbot button configuration screen displaying interactive button setup, message actions, automation options, and conversation flow for customer engagement.

Step 10: Add an Image to the “Shop Now” Path

Connect the Shop now button to an Image block.

Step 11: Add a Message to the “Offers and Updates” Path

Connect the Offers and Updates button to a new Text block.

Add a confirmation message such as:

Thank you! Now we will keep you updated with our latest designs, coupons and discounts! Happy shopping.

Open the sequence block and enter a suitable campaign name. In this example, the campaign is named:

    Offers and Membership Sequence

Sequences are designed to send messages automatically after a subscriber enters the campaign, making them suitable for reminders, promotional follow-ups, onboarding, and lead nurturing.

Configure New Sequence interface showing automated chatbot campaign scheduling with delivery time, timezone settings, message sequence flow, and timed follow-up actions.
Chatbot sequence campaign setup screen displaying scheduled message delivery, re-entry rules, automated follow-ups, and customer engagement workflow configuration.

Step 13: Set the Delivery Time and Time Zone

Inside the New Sequence Campaign settings, locate the Delivery Schedule section.

    Configure the settings as follows:

    Preferred delivery time

    10:00 AM

    Time zone

    GMT+06:00 Asia/Dhaka

The preferred delivery time is especially important for messages scheduled outside the immediate hourly period.

Using the correct time zone ensures that subscribers receive the scheduled messages according to your intended local time rather than the server’s default time.

You may also configure the re-entry rules when you want subscribers to enter the same sequence again after completing it.

    Click Save Changes .

Step 14: Create the First Sequence Message

Connect a Send Message After block to the New Sequence Campaign.

    Open the block and select:

    Message type

    Hourly

    Schedule message after

    1 minute

    Click Save Changes .

Next, connect this scheduling block to a Text message and enter the first scheduled message. For example:

Welcome to the Sanos ice cream shop.

This message will be delivered approximately one minute after the subscriber enters the sequence.

Configure Sequence Message interface showing chatbot message type selection, delivery schedule settings, notes section, and automated sequence workflow with timed messages.
Chatbot sequence message configuration screen displaying hourly and daily message scheduling, automated follow-up timing, and customer communication workflow setup.

Step 15: Create the Second Sequence Message

Add another Send Message After block.

    Configure it with:

    Message type

    Hourly

    Schedule message after

    5 minutes

    Click Save Changes .

Connect the block to another Text message. For example:

Ready to taste a delicious new flavour? Get 25% discount also.

This creates the second follow-up message in the campaign.

Step 16: Create the Third Sequence Message

Add a third Send Message After block and open its settings.

    Configure it as follows:

    Message type

    Daily

    Schedule message for

    Day 1

    Click Save Changes .

Connect this schedule block to the message you want subscribers to receive after one day.

The daily message will follow the preferred delivery time configured in the campaign. In this example, it is scheduled for 10:00 AM in the Asia/Dhaka time zone .

Configure Sequence Message interface showing Telegram chatbot automation workflow with hourly and daily message scheduling, image and text messages, buttons, and multi-step campaign flow.
Telegram chatbot sequence configuration screen displaying scheduled message delivery, automated follow-ups, promotional content, and a visual workflow for managing customer engagement campaigns.

Step 17: Connect the Sequence Correctly

Check that all blocks are properly connected.

    Your final flow should contain:

    1. Start Bot Flow
    2. Welcome Text
    3. Shop now button
    4. Offers and Updates button
    5. Product Image
    6. Confirmation Text
    7. New Sequence Campaign
    8. One-minute schedule
    9. Five-minute schedule
    10. Day-one schedule
    11. Scheduled Text messages

Make sure the user is subscribed to the sequence through the appropriate button or sequence connection. BotSailor also allows sequences to be triggered through keywords, buttons, labels, subscriber actions, and other automation paths.

Step 18: Save the Complete Telegram Flow

Once all the blocks have been configured and connected, click the main Save button in the upper-right corner of the Flow Builder.

Saving the individual blocks is not enough. You must also save the complete flow before testing it.

Visual chatbot automation builder displaying Telegram bot flow creation with text, image, button, sequence campaign, API integrations, and scheduled message actions.

Step 19: Test the Automation in Telegram

Open Telegram and start a conversation with Semibot.

Send one of the configured trigger keywords:

    hi

The bot should immediately send the welcome message and display the two buttons:

    Shop now

    Offers and Updates

Select Shop now to check whether the ice cream image appears.

Then select Offers and Updates to receive the confirmation message and enter the sequence campaign.

Step 20: Check the Sequence Message Delivery

In the test shown in the screenshots:

    • The initial Telegram interaction began at approximately 10:45 AM .
    • The confirmation message appeared at approximately 10:46 AM .
    • The first scheduled message appeared at approximately 10:47 AM .
    • The next scheduled promotional message appeared at approximately 10:51 AM .
    • The final daily message was configured to arrive after one day at the preferred campaign delivery time.

Small differences in the displayed minute may occur because Telegram timestamps show completed minutes and the scheduling countdown can begin when the subscriber reaches the relevant sequence step.

    Final Telegram Sequence Flow

The complete automation follows this journey:

    User sends “hi”

    Welcome message appears

    User selects a button

    Shop now → Product image

Offers and Updates → Confirmation message

    Subscriber enters sequence

    Message after 1 minute

    Message after 5 minutes

Message after 1 day at 10:00 AM

BotSailor’s sequence messaging feature makes it possible to continue communicating with Telegram subscribers after their first interaction. By combining keyword replies, buttons, images, text messages, and scheduled follow-ups, you can build an automated customer journey without manually sending every message.

This type of Telegram sequence can be adapted for:

    • Welcome and onboarding campaigns
    • Product promotions
    • Discount reminders
    • Membership updates
    • Event notifications
    • Lead nurturing
    • Educational message series
    • Customer follow-ups

After publishing the flow, test every trigger, button, connection, message delay, delivery time, and time zone to confirm that the complete sequence works as expected.
