Hi team,
I’d like to request a feature for canned responses in the shared inbox.
Current situation
Right now every canned response has to be created and edited by hand inside the shared inbox. For most accounts that’s fine. For larger accounts it gets tedious and error-prone. One of our clients has 20–30 canned responses, and they change them often. Adding, editing, or removing them one at a time takes a lot of time, and the list easily goes out of date.
Requested feature
Let us connect a Google Sheet as the source for an account’s canned responses, so the inbox stays in sync with the sheet automatically.
Suggested behaviour
- Connect a sheet: link a Google Sheet (via Google sign-in or a shared link) from the canned responses settings.
- Simple column format: for example,
Shortcut / Title,Message, and an optionalCategoryorActivecolumn. - Sync options: automatic sync on a schedule (for example hourly or daily), plus a “Sync now” button.
- Full sync: new rows create responses, edited rows update them, and deleted rows (or rows marked inactive) remove or disable them.
- Sync summary: show the last sync time and what changed (added, updated, removed), and flag any rows that failed, such as a missing message or a duplicate shortcut.
Nice to have
- Support for variables/placeholders (e.g.
{{name}}) in the sheet text. - A one-time CSV/Excel import as a fallback for accounts that don’t use Google Sheets.
Why it matters
Clients could manage their replies in a tool they already use, update them in bulk, and share editing with their team without needing inbox access. It would save setup and maintenance time, especially for accounts with many replies that change often.
Happy to share more details or help test this if it’s picked up.
