Telegram broadcasting with BotSailor allows businesses to send messages to multiple Telegram bot subscribers through a single campaign. You can create promotional messages, add interactive buttons, segment subscribers using labels, schedule broadcasts, and monitor campaign results.
To create a Telegram broadcast, connect a Telegram bot to BotSailor, open Broadcasting → Telegram → Create Campaign, configure the campaign, build the message flow, connect the buttons to their corresponding messages, save the campaign, and test the result in Telegram.
In this tutorial, we will use a real-life example: Dream Travel BD, a fictional travel agency promoting tour packages for Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, and Bandarban.
Prerequisites
Before creating your first Telegram broadcast, make sure you have the following:
- ● An active Telegram account.
- ● A BotSailor account with access to Telegram broadcasting.
- ● A Telegram bot created through the official @BotFather.
- ● The bot token generated by BotFather.
- ● A Telegram bot connected to BotSailor.
- ● At least one subscriber who has started interacting with your bot.
- ● A promotional message and, if applicable, a real website or booking URL.
Important
Telegram broadcasts through a bot are intended for eligible subscribers of that bot, not arbitrary Telegram users. Your campaign's audience size depends on the subscribers available and the audience filters you select.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Create a Telegram Bot
First, create a Telegram bot if you do not already have one.
- 1 Open Telegram.
- 2 Search for @BotFather and open the official bot.
- 3 Send the /newbot command.
- 4 Enter a display name, such as Dream Travel BD.
- 5 Choose a unique username ending in bot, such as DreamTravelBD_bot, if available.
- 6 Copy the API token provided by BotFather and store it securely.
Important
The token is required to connect your bot to BotSailor. Never publish it or share it with unauthorized people.
Step 2: Connect Your Telegram Bot to BotSailor
- 1 Visit BotSailor and log in.
- 2 Open the Connect Account section in the dashboard.
- 3 Select the Telegram connection option. Depending on the dashboard version, the relevant option may be labelled Connect Telegram or Connect Bot.
- 4 Paste your BotFather token into the appropriate field.
- 5 Click Connect and wait for the connection to complete.
- 6 Open your Telegram bot and send /start to check whether it responds.
Once connected, your bot can be used to configure chatbot flows, manage subscribers, and create Telegram broadcast campaigns.
Step 3: Open the Telegram Broadcast Center
After connecting the bot, navigate to the broadcast dashboard.
- 1 Click Broadcasting in the left sidebar.
- 2 Select the Telegram tab.
- 3 Check the current bot selector to confirm that the correct Telegram bot is selected.
- 4 Click Create Campaign in the upper-right corner.
The Broadcast Center is where you can create campaigns and review their status, message counts, and reports.
Step 4: Configure the Broadcast Action
The Visual Flow Builder opens when you start configuring your campaign.
- 1 Add or select the Actions block.
- 2 Open its configuration panel.
- 3 Under Action Type, select Broadcasting.
- 4 In the Campaign Name field, enter the name below.
- 5 Review the Include Label IDs and Exclude Label IDs fields.
- 6 Review the Targeted Subscribers count.
- 7 Leave Send later disabled if you want to send immediately. If scheduling is required, enable it and configure the delivery time.
- 8 Add optional internal notes if needed.
- ● Leave the label fields empty if you intend to target all eligible subscribers and do not need label-based filtering.
- ● If you want to target a specific audience, select the appropriate labels.
For this example, the campaign targeted two subscribers. Your actual count may be different.
Step 5: Configure the Start Bot Flow Reference
The Start Bot Flow block identifies the flow that the broadcast action will trigger.
- 1 Select the Start Bot Flow block.
- 2 Enter the title shown below.
- 3 Add an optional note describing the flow (see below).
- 4 Click Save Changes.
- 5 Make sure the broadcasting action connects to the Start Bot Flow block through the appropriate connector.
Optional note
“Travel agency Telegram broadcasting for promoting Bangladesh tour packages, including Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, and Bandarban. Share travel offers, package details, booking information, and website links with interested subscribers.”
Step 6: Create the Main Promotional Message
- 1 Select the first Text block connected to Start Bot Flow.
- 2 In the Reply message field, enter the example below.
- 3 You may also add an internal note, although this is optional.
- 4 Click Save Changes to save the message.

Step 7: Add the Explore Tour Packages Button
Next, create the first button attached to the main promotional message.
- 1 Select the main Text block.
- 2 Click Add Buttons.
- 3 Open the new Button block.
- 4 Enter the Button Title shown below.
- 5 Under When user press the button, select Send Message.
- 6 Leave optional fields such as labels, lists, sequences, webhook URLs, and Google Sheets integrations empty unless your workflow requires them.
- 7 Add an optional note (see below).
- 8 Click Save.
Optional note
“Opens the tour packages information message so subscribers can explore available destinations and travel offers.”
Important
In this example, Send Message is used to display another message inside Telegram. It does not automatically open a website.
Step 8: Connect the Explore Tour Packages Message
Create a separate Text block for the first button.
- 1 Add a Text block to the canvas.
- 2 Connect the Explore Tour Packages button's Next output to the new Text block's Message input.
- 3 Open the new Text block.
- 4 Enter the message below.
- 5 Replace the placeholder with your real tour packages URL.
- 6 Save the Text block.

🏖️ Cox's Bazar — Beach getaway
🌿 Sylhet — Tea gardens and green hills
⛰️ Bandarban — Mountain adventures

This creates the first button pathway: when a subscriber selects Explore Tour Packages, the bot sends the corresponding tour information message.
Step 9: Add the Book Now Button
Now create a separate button for booking enquiries.
- 1 Return to the main promotional Text block.
- 2 Click Add Buttons if the second button has not already been created.
- 3 Open the second Button block.
- 4 Enter the Button Title shown below.
- 5 Select Send Message under When user press the button.
- 6 Add an optional note (see below).
- 7 Click Save.
Optional note
“Directs interested travelers to the booking enquiry message.”
The Book Now button should be connected to its own Text block rather than the Explore Tour Packages message.
Step 10: Create the Book Now Message
- 1 Add a separate Text block for the booking enquiry.
- 2 Connect the Book Now button's Next output to the new Text block's Message input.
- 3 In the Reply message field, enter the message below.
- 4 Click Save Changes to save the Text block.

Good to know
This message collects booking information conversationally. It does not automatically save the information to a database or confirm a reservation. For automated data collection, you can extend the flow with a suitable User Input Flow or another supported integration.
Step 11: Review and Save the Complete Flow
Before sending the campaign, review the entire Visual Flow Builder canvas. Your flow should contain the following connected blocks:
- ●Actions — Broadcasting: Configures the campaign.
- ●Start Bot Flow: Identifies the flow to start.
- ●Main Text Message: Sends the travel promotion.
- ●Explore Tour Packages: Sends the tour information message.
- ●Explore Tour Packages Text: Displays destination information.
- ●Book Now: Sends the booking enquiry message.
- ●Book Now Text: Requests the traveler's booking details.
Check that the Explore Tour Packages button connects to the correct Text block and that Book Now connects to its own Text block.
Click Save Changes when editing a block, then click the main Save button in the upper-right corner of the flow builder.
Step 12: Test the Broadcast in Telegram
Once the flow has been saved, open your Telegram bot and test the messages.
- 1 Open the bot in Telegram.
- 2 Send /start if you need to trigger the configured start flow.
- 3 Confirm that the main promotional message appears.
- 4 Click Explore Tour Packages and check that the destination information message appears.
- 5 Return to the main message and click Book Now.
- 6 Confirm that the booking enquiry message appears.
- 7 Check the text, emojis, links, and button labels on both desktop and mobile if possible.
Tip
If a button does not trigger the expected message, return to the Visual Flow Builder and verify its connection.
Step 13: Review the Campaign Status and Report
After sending the broadcast, open the Broadcast Center.
- 1 Navigate to Broadcasting → Telegram.
- 2 Find your campaign in the list.
- 3 Review its status, sent count, and scheduled time.
- 4 Click the eye icon under Actions to open the campaign report.
- 5 Review the targeted subscriber count and message statistics.
In our example, the campaign appeared as Completed, with Sent 2/2. This indicates that the campaign's reported send count matched the two targeted subscribers.
Important
A completed campaign cannot be edited as if it were still pending. If you need to change the message, create a new campaign and use the revised flow.
Output:
Success Verification
Use this checklist before considering the campaign complete.
- ● The Telegram bot is connected to BotSailor.
- ● The broadcast campaign is configured for the correct bot.
- ● The intended subscriber audience is selected.
- ● The main promotional message appears correctly in Telegram.
- ● Explore Tour Packages opens the correct follow-up message.
- ● Book Now opens the separate booking enquiry message.
- ● All URLs point to the correct pages.
- ● The campaign is saved and its status is visible in the Broadcast Center.
- ● The reported sent count matches the intended campaign audience.
Remember
A sent message is not proof that a recipient read it. Telegram does not provide native read receipts for bot broadcast messages in the same way some messaging platforms do.
Troubleshooting
Error: “You can only edit a pending broadcast campaign.”
This error appears when you try to edit a campaign that is no longer pending.
Solution:
- 1 Click OK to close the error.
- 2 Return to the Telegram Broadcast Center.
- 3 Check the campaign status.
- 4 If the campaign is Completed, create a new campaign instead of trying to edit the completed one.
- 5 Reuse the appropriate flow and make your changes before sending the new campaign.
The broadcast was sent, but a button does not work
Possible cause: The button is not connected to the correct next message.
Solution: Open the Visual Flow Builder, select the button, and confirm that its Next output connects to the correct Text block.
The button sends a message instead of opening a website
Possible cause: The button action is configured as Send Message.
Solution: If you want to open a website directly, check whether your Telegram flow builder offers a URL or website action for that button type. Use the actual website URL. Keep Send Message for conversational follow-up messages.
The targeted subscriber count is zero
Possible cause: The bot has no eligible subscribers, the wrong bot is selected, or label filters exclude the intended audience.
Solution: Verify the current bot, confirm that users have started the bot, and review the Include Label IDs and Exclude Label IDs settings.
The bot does not respond to /start
Possible cause: The bot connection or flow configuration may be incorrect.
Solution: Verify the Telegram connection, check that the intended flow is saved and configured correctly, and test the bot again. If the problem persists, consult the official BotSailor connection troubleshooting guide.
The campaign shows Completed, but you want to change it
Solution: Create a new campaign with a different name, such as BD_Tour_Package_Launch_Revision_01. Make your changes to the flow before launching it.
Next Steps
After successfully sending your first Telegram broadcast, consider extending the travel agency workflow:
- ●Segment subscribers: Use labels to separate users interested in beach holidays, hill destinations, or other travel categories.
- ●Add real booking links: Connect the relevant tour packages and booking pages using supported URL buttons or message links.
- ●Collect booking details: Use a supported input flow to collect destinations, travel dates, traveler counts, and contact details.
- ●Integrate Google Sheets: If your workflow requires it, configure an appropriate integration to store booking enquiries.
- ●Schedule future campaigns: Use the Send later option when you want to deliver travel promotions at a specific time.
- ●Measure performance: Review campaign reports and use trackable website URLs to understand traffic and engagement.
- ●Improve message relevance: Send useful travel updates and offers to interested subscribers rather than repeatedly sending irrelevant promotions.
