Connect WooCommerce to BotSailor by entering your store URL and approving access. With WhatsApp

to create separate order-notification, order-update, and COD-verification campaigns. For abandoned-cart recovery, install the WooCommerce webhook plugin, create a Webhook Workflow, save its callback URL in WordPress, capture sample data, and review the mappings. Test the received messages and configured order actions with your own test number. If your store also uses CartFlows Cart Abandonment Recovery, review its cart and recovered-revenue reports separately.

UPDATED — WooCommerce WhatsApp Automation — 31 Oct 2026

How to Integrate WooCommerce for WhatsApp Automation

Connect WooCommerce, configure WhatsApp notifications and COD verification, and recover abandoned carts.

Connecting your WooCommerce store with BotSailor allows you to automate customer messages through WhatsApp, from order confirmation and order updates to cash-on-delivery verification and abandoned-cart reminders.

In the new connection interface, enter your store’s homepage URL and approve BotSailor’s access in WooCommerce. WooCommerce generates the API credentials automatically during authorization.

After connecting the store, configure the required automations for your WhatsApp account. Order notifications, order updates, and COD verification use Store Automation campaigns. WooCommerce abandoned-cart recovery uses the Abandoned Cart Webhook plugin and a BotSailor Webhook Workflow.

Guide scope

This guide follows the WooCommerce walkthrough: connect the store, prepare message templates, configure each automation, and check the received messages against the corresponding test records.

Reader journey

Connect the StorePrepare TemplatesConfigure AutomationsTest Messages

Before You Begin

  • An online WooCommerce store and WordPress administrator access.
  • A BotSailor account with a connected WhatsApp account ready to send messages.
  • Approved WhatsApp message templates for the automations you plan to test.
  • A WhatsApp-enabled test phone number you control.

This walkthrough uses the MineCraft store at https://woo.arflow.cc/ and the Bikroy Shop WhatsApp account. Use your own store URL and connected account. Copy your storefront’s homepage URL from the browser address bar; omit /wp-admin and product-page paths.

Before sending your test messages

Check that the selected WhatsApp account can send the approved template. Use your own test number and compare each received message with the same order or abandoned checkout.

Part 01: How to Connect WooCommerce With BotSailor

Connect AccountWooCommerceStore URLConnect StoreApproveActive

Open the WooCommerce connection page

Log in to BotSailor. From the dashboard’s left sidebar, open Connect Account and click Connect WooCommerce.

Enter your store URL and connect

On the WooCommerce Store Connection page, enter your store’s homepage URL in Store URL. For this walkthrough, enter https://woo.arflow.cc/. Click Connect Store.

Screenshot 01: Open Connect Account, choose WooCommerce, and enter the store URL.

Review and approve access

Sign in to WordPress if prompted. WooCommerce opens a page headed “BotSailor would like to connect to your store.” Review the requested Read/Write access for webhooks, coupons, customers, orders, reports, and products. Check that the credential recipient is botsailor.com, then click Approve.

Screenshot 02: Review the WooCommerce access request and click Approve.

Confirm the connection

After returning to BotSailor, check for the green Connected banner. Your store should appear in Connected Stores with Active status, and the connected and active counts should increase by one.

Screenshot 03: Confirm that the WooCommerce store appears as Active.

Verification

The connection is ready when the intended store appears with Active status in BotSailor. The approval flow generates the API credentials automatically.

Part 02: Prepare Your WhatsApp Account and Message Templates

Connect Your WhatsApp Account

Use a connected WhatsApp account that is ready to send messages. In this walkthrough, select Bikroy Shop inside Chatbot Manager.

Prepare Your Message Templates

Chatbot ManagerBikroy ShopAutomationMessage Templates

Prepare an approved template for each automation. You can use the system templates shown in the walkthrough or your own approved templates with the required customer, order, and cart variables.

Automation
Template used in this walkthrough
Order Update Notification

Order Notification
system_order_success_notification_new_local
COD Verification
system_cod_order_verification_new_local
Abandoned-cart workflow

Keep the required variables

Check the selected template and its variables before saving. For abandoned carts, capture the webhook response and review the phone number, customer name, cart details, checkout link, and any button action.

What Can You Automate With the WooCommerce Integration?

Automation
Purpose
Order Update Notification
Sends a notification for a supported change to an existing order.
Order Notification
Sends the initial confirmation for a newly placed order.
COD Verification
Asks a cash-on-delivery customer to confirm or cancel an order.
Abandoned Cart Recovery
Sends a checkout reminder using the WordPress webhook plugin and a BotSailor Webhook Workflow.

Save a separate Store Automation campaign for each of the first three actions. The campaign list shows the store automations you have prepared.

Part 03: Order Update Notifications

Follow these steps to configure the order-update campaign, prepare a test order, and check a supported update to that order.

Chatbot ManagerBikroy ShopCommerceStore Automation

Select the WhatsApp account

Open Chatbot Manager and select Bikroy Shop, or the connected WhatsApp account you want to use.

Create a campaign

Go to Commerce → Store Automation and open the new campaign form.

Name the campaign

Enter WC Order Update Notification in Campaign Name.

Select the store and action

Choose WooCommerce as Store Type, MineCraft under Select Store API, and Order Update Notification as Action.

Set the delay and message template

Set Message Delay (Minutes) to 0. Select the approved system_order_update_notification_new_local message template.

Review country code and optional assignments

Leave Country Code blank if the customer’s phone number already includes its country code; otherwise select the appropriate code. Leave Assign Label and Assign Sequence blank for this initial test unless you need those assignments.

Save the campaign

Review the settings and click Save. Return to the campaign list and check that the intended campaign is saved and enabled.

Add a product to the cart

Open the WooCommerce storefront and choose a product. Set its quantity, click Add To Cart, and then Proceed to Checkout.

Complete the customer details

Enter the customer’s billing details and a WhatsApp-enabled phone number you control, including its country code.

Screenshot 06: Choose a product and complete the checkout details.

Place the test order

Review the order and select an available payment method. The example uses Cash on delivery. Click Place Order and confirm that WooCommerce creates the order.

Update the existing order

In WordPress, open WooCommerce → Orders and locate the test order. Make a supported update, such as an applicable status change, and save it. Record the order number and updated status.

Check the WhatsApp update

Wait for processing and the configured delay, then check the customer’s WhatsApp for the order-update message. Compare it with the same WooCommerce order. A received example appears in Part 07.

Verification

Placing a new order alone does not verify the order-update campaign. Check that a supported update produces a message for the same order and that the displayed details match that order.

Part 04: Order Notifications

Configure this campaign before placing the new order used to test the initial order-confirmation message.

Chatbot ManagerBikroy ShopCommerceStore Automation

Open a new campaign

Select your WhatsApp account in Chatbot Manager. Go to Commerce → Store Automation and open a separate campaign form.

Review the form and click Save. Check that the campaign is saved and enabled.

Place a new test order

Use the storefront checkout procedure above. Enter the test customer’s details and WhatsApp phone number, choose a payment method, and click Place Order.

Check the order confirmation page

Confirm that the thank-you page appears with an order number. This shows that the order was submitted successfully.

Check the WhatsApp notification

Open WhatsApp on the phone used in the order’s billing details. Check for the order-confirmation notification and compare its information with the matching order. A received example appears in Part 07.

Verification

The notification test is complete when the message arrives with details matching the submitted WooCommerce order. Check any address, delivery-date, or tracking value separately for accuracy.

Part 05: Cash on Delivery Verification

Use COD Verification to ask customers to confirm or cancel cash-on-delivery orders through WhatsApp.

Chatbot ManagerBikroy ShopCommerceStore Automation

Open a new campaign

Select the intended WhatsApp account and open a new campaign under Commerce → Store Automation.

Name the campaign

Enter a descriptive name, such as WC COD Verification.

Select the store and action

Choose WooCommerce, select your connected store — MineCraft in this example — and set Action to COD Verification.

Set the delay and template

Set Message Delay (Minutes) to 5, matching this walkthrough. Select the approved system_cod_order_verification_new_local template.

Review country code and optional assignments

Leave Country Code blank if the customer’s phone number already includes its country code; otherwise select the appropriate code. Leave Assign Label and Assign Sequence blank for this initial test unless you need those assignments.

Screenshot 12: Confirm the test order’s Cash on delivery payment method.

Check the verification message

After the configured five-minute delay and processing time, check the customer’s WhatsApp for the verification request. Compare its details with the matching order.

Confirm the order and check its note

Tap Confirm Order. Check for the acknowledgement, then open the matching WooCommerce order and verify that the configured order-confirmed note was added.

Test cancellation with a separate order

Place a separate COD test order. Tap Cancel Order in its WhatsApp verification message, then check the corresponding WooCommerce order for the cancellation result.

Verification

Check the delivered request and both configured button actions. The supplied WhatsApp example shows confirmation and an acknowledgement; verify the backend note and cancellation result separately. Update Note does not by itself mark an order paid or completed.

Part 06: Abandoned Cart Recovery

For WooCommerce, install the Abandoned Cart Webhook plugin and connect it to a BotSailor Webhook Workflow. First send sample data to configure the workflow, then test a real unfinished checkout.

Open E-commerce API in BotSailor

From the BotSailor dashboard, go to:

Control PanelSettings & IntegrationAPI IntegrationE-commerce API

Download the webhook plugin

Click Download WC Abandoned Cart Webhook Plugin and save the ZIP file.

Upload and install the ZIP

Click Upload Plugin → Choose File. Select the downloaded plugin ZIP, then click Install Now.

Name the workflow and select the template

Enter WC Abandoned Cart Webhook as the workflow name and select the prepared, approved abandoned_cart message template.

Create the workflow and copy its callback URL

Click Create Workflow. Under Configure Webhook Data, copy the complete Webhook Callback URL, including its unique workflow identifier.

Save the callback URL in WordPress

Return to Settings → Abandoned Cart Webhook in WordPress. Paste the complete callback URL into Webhook URL and click Save Changes.

Send a sample webhook

Click Send Sample Webhook. The plugin sends sample customer and cart information to the saved URL so you can configure the workflow without waiting for a real abandoned cart.

Abandoned Cart Webhook Settings with Webhook URL, Save Changes, and Send Sample Webhook highlighted.
Screenshot 18: Save the webhook URL and send sample data to BotSailor.

Capture the webhook response

Return to the BotSailor workflow. Under Configure Webhook Data → Real-time Response, click the green Capture Webhook Response button. The received sample appears under Raw Data.

Review the response mapping

In Webhook Response Mapping, review the populated phone number and customer-name fields. Use the phone field containing the correct number in your actual captured payload.

Configure the remaining product-list, total-price, checkout-link, and any template button fields using the appropriate cart data.

Check all required mappings

The illustrated cart variables still show Static Value, and the template button action is not selected. Review and complete these settings before testing real cart reminders. Capturing sample data confirms that data reached the workflow; it does not verify cart detection or message delivery.

Save the workflow

Click Save Workflow. The success message confirms that the data has been mapped and saved, and that the configuration applies from the next webhook call.

Webhook capture button, raw sample JSON, mapping fields, and successful Save Workflow confirmation.
Screenshot 19: Capture sample data, review the mappings, and save the workflow.

Prepare a real abandoned checkout

Open the storefront, add a product to the cart, and proceed to checkout. Enter the customer details and a WhatsApp-enabled test phone number. Leave checkout without clicking Place Order.

Allow time for abandonment detection

BotSailor’s plugin documentation describes a one-hour abandonment threshold and scheduled checks every five minutes. Allow for that detection period and any additional workflow delay. Timing can also depend on WordPress scheduled-task execution. Plugin documentation.

Check the WhatsApp reminder

Open WhatsApp on the phone used at checkout. Check that the reminder arrives with the intended customer and cart information. The supplied received reminder appears in Part 07.

Test the checkout link

Open the reminder’s checkout link. Confirm that it leads to the intended checkout with the expected cart. Complete checkout to test the recovery path, then verify the corresponding order in WooCommerce → Orders.

Review cart and recovery reports

For the reporting setup shown, open WooCommerce → Cart Abandonment. Find the cart in Recent Follow Up Reports. After a tracked recovery, review its status and Overview → Recovered Revenue for the appropriate date range.

Cart Abandonment reporting dashboard showing Recent Follow Up Reports and Recovered Revenue.
Screenshot 20: Review cart records, recovery status, and recovered revenue.

The screenshot shows a ৳15 Normal cart and a separate ৳45 Successful recovery. The recovered-revenue total belongs to the separate recovered entry.

Reporting in this walkthrough

The Cart Abandonment dashboard is provided by CartFlows Cart Abandonment Recovery, separate from BotSailor’s webhook plugin. It appears when that reporting plugin is installed and tracking is enabled. A recovery total alone does not identify which message caused the purchase. CartFlows reporting documentation.

Verification

Check the full path: sample data reaches the workflow, required mappings are configured, a real unfinished checkout produces a WhatsApp reminder, and its checkout link opens the expected cart. Verify a recovered order and any reporting result separately.

Part 07: Review the End-user Notifications

The conversation below reproduces the received examples supplied with the WooCommerce walkthrough. Scroll inside the phone to read the order update, order confirmation, COD exchange, and abandoned-cart reminder.

Verification: How Do You Know the WooCommerce Automation Is Working?

  • The intended WooCommerce store appears as Active in BotSailor.
  • Each Store Automation campaign uses the intended store, action, approved template, and delay, and is saved and enabled.
  • The initial order notification matches the newly submitted order.
  • A supported order change produces the corresponding order-update message.
  • COD confirmation adds the configured order-confirmed note; cancellation is tested with a separate order.
  • The abandoned-cart webhook workflow has the required mappings and sends a reminder for a real unfinished checkout.
  • The recovery link opens the expected cart, and completing checkout creates the corresponding order.

What the supplied screenshots establish

The walkthrough shows store connection, configuration screens, received messages, a COD confirmation exchange, and separate cart-report examples. Check the corresponding backend records to verify note changes, cancellation, and recovered orders.

Common Troubleshooting

Problem
What to check
The store does not connect
Check the homepage URL, WordPress administrator access, and the WooCommerce authorization result. Confirm that the intended store appears as Active.
A campaign sends no message
Check the selected store, action, template approval, saved and enabled campaign state, customer phone number, trigger, and delay. Review any delivery response available in BotSailor.
The order-update test sends nothing
Update an existing order through a supported trigger. Creating a new order alone tests the initial notification.
Confirm Order has no expected result
Check that the button uses Update Note with order-confirmed and inspect the matching WooCommerce order note. Test cancellation separately.
No webhook sample appears
Check that the WordPress plugin is active and its saved Webhook URL is the complete callback URL. Send the sample, then capture the response in the intended workflow.
A cart reminder is missing or incomplete
Check the real checkout’s captured phone data, the abandonment period, scheduled tasks, template mappings, checkout link, and saved workflow. Sample data alone does not test abandonment.
Cart Abandonment reports are unavailable
The illustrated dashboard requires the separate CartFlows reporting plugin and enabled tracking. Check the report date range when reviewing revenue.

Key Takeaways for WooCommerce WhatsApp Automation

  • Connect WooCommerce through the store-URL and approval flow, then configure each required automation separately.
  • Use approved templates and check the variables for customer, order, status, and cart information.
  • Test Order Notification, Order Update Notification, and COD Verification as separate Store Automation campaigns.
  • For abandoned carts, use the WordPress webhook plugin and a BotSailor Webhook Workflow. Capture sample data, complete the mappings, and test a real unfinished checkout.
  • Match each WhatsApp message and configured action to the same WooCommerce record. Review CartFlows recovery reports separately when that reporting plugin is installed.

Next Steps

After the initial tests, review the message wording, variable mappings, checkout and tracking links, and delays for each automation. Repeat the relevant tests after changing a template, campaign, plugin setting, or webhook workflow, and use the available delivery responses to investigate failures.

Success

Your setup is ready for the tested workflows when each supported event produces the intended WhatsApp message, each configured action performs as expected, and the matching WooCommerce records confirm the result.

Open Connect Account → WooCommerce, enter your store's homepage URL, and click Connect Store. Sign in to WordPress if prompted, review the BotSailor access request, and click Approve. Return to BotSailor and confirm that the store appears with Active status. This connection flow generates the API credentials automatically.

Order Notification sends the initial confirmation after a customer places an order. Order Update Notification sends a message for a supported change to an existing order, such as a status change. Configure them as separate campaigns and test each message against the matching WooCommerce order.

They run the actions configured in the COD Verification campaign. In this walkthrough, Confirm Order uses Update Note with the text order-confirmed, while Cancel Order uses the Cancel Order action. Adding a confirmation note does not itself mark an order paid or completed. The example campaign uses a five-minute message delay.

Yes. Install and activate the Abandoned Cart Webhook plugin downloaded from BotSailor. Create a BotSailor webhook workflow with your prepared, approved WhatsApp template, then save its complete Webhook Callback URL under WordPress → Settings → Abandoned Cart Webhook.

It sends sample customer and cart data to the saved webhook URL so BotSailor can capture the response and expose fields for mapping. A received sample verifies that data reached the workflow. Test a real abandoned checkout separately to verify detection, WhatsApp delivery, and the checkout link.

The plugin documentation describes a one-hour abandonment threshold and scheduled checks every five minutes. Allow for the scheduled check and any additional workflow message delay. Delivery is not guaranteed at an exact minute, particularly if WordPress scheduled tasks are delayed.

Review every field after capturing the webhook response. The supplied example populates the phone number and customer name, but the product list, total price, and checkout link still show Static Value. Configure and verify the remaining variables and any button actions before relying on live cart reminders.

If your store also uses CartFlows Cart Abandonment Recovery with tracking enabled, open WooCommerce → Cart Abandonment and review the reports and Recovered Revenue for the selected date range. This dashboard is separate from BotSailor's webhook plugin. A recovered-revenue total alone does not prove that a WhatsApp reminder caused the recovery.
