WhatsApp message template is neccessary to send message to WhatsApp subscriber outsided of 24 hours windows of last interaction by the subscriber with your WhatsApp chatbot.

It's also called business-initiated message. So you can send template message to WhatsApp number anytime. This WhatsApp message template mostly use for updating customers about new information, send bulk promotional message, send OTP code and many more.

Before sending WhatsApp message template, template need to be created & submit it for review. After getting approval from Facebook or Meta , you can use these WhatsApp message template.

Here i am going to discuss some common mistakes need to be avoided during creating your WhatsApp message template.

You can create message template in two ways .

  1. From BotSailor Template Manager. Here is details.
  2. From WhatsApp Business Manager Account.Then sync in BotSailor and map variables.

 

We recommed to create Message Template from BotSailor Template Manager. However in some cases we found that some WhatsApp account faces problem of template review become pending for long time when creating template with API from BotSailor. In this case we suggest to create template inside WhatsApp manager directly, then sync them inside BotSailor and map variables if the template has any variables.

There are two types of common reason of rejection.

  1. Template Format Issues. 
  2. Template Content issues.

 

Template Format Issues :

If you create template from BotSailor, then you don't need to worry about formatting issues. BotSailor itself check all these formatting issue and give you suggestion if you do any mistake here.

  1. Variable parameters are missing or have mismatched curly braces. The correct format is {{1}}.
  2. Variable parameters contain special characters such as a #, $, or %.
  3. Variable parameters are not sequential. For example, {{1}}, {{2}}, {{4}}, {{5}} are defined but {{3}} does not exist.

Template Content Issues :  

  1. If the message template contains content that violates WhatsApp Commerce Policy.
  2. Do not request sensitive identifiers from users. (Example: payment card numbers, financial account numbers, National Identification numbers, or other sensitive identifiers ).
  3. The content contains potentially abusive or threatening content, such as threatening a customer with legal action or threatening to publicly shame them.
  4. The message template is a duplicate of an existing template. If a template is submitted with the same wording in the body and footer of an existing template, the duplicate template will be rejected.
  5. Poor content with spelling mistake or grammatical errors is the another common reason to be get rejected.
  6. Donot use short url in your message template like bit.ly, short.ly
  7. Choose wrong category of message template may also result of rejection. There is three categories Marketing, Utility, Authentication. Choose the corret category for the message template.


Avoid these common mistake during creating your WhatsApp message template. Then it should be approved.
