How to Integrate Shopify for WhatsApp Automation
Connect Shopify, configure four WhatsApp automation campaigns, and verify customer notifications.
Connecting your Shopify store with BotSailor allows you to automate important e-commerce interactions through WhatsApp.
The integration process is now much simpler. You no longer need to create a Shopify custom app, configure API permissions, or manually generate an Admin Access Token. You only need to enter your Shopify store subdomain and complete a few authorization steps to connect your store.
After the connection is complete, you must set up the required automation campaigns inside BotSailor. These campaigns determine which Shopify events trigger WhatsApp messages, such as abandoned cart reminders, order notifications, shipping updates, and Cash on Delivery verification messages. Once the campaigns are configured and activated, BotSailor can automatically communicate with customers throughout their purchasing journey
Guide Scope
This walkthrough uses the MineCraft Shopify store and the Bikroy Shop WhatsApp account. The connection method shown is app installation and authorization. Create and activate each campaign separately after connecting the store.

Verification: How Do You Know the Shopify Automation Is Working?
- The intended Shopify store appears as Active in BotSailor.
- Each campaign has the correct store, action, approved message template, message delay, and active status.
- The order notification arrives with details matching the same Shopify order.
- COD confirmation adds the configured
order-confirmedtag in Shopify. Cancellation is checked using a separate COD test order. - The recovery reminder matches the abandoned checkout, its link restores that checkout, and completing it creates the corresponding order.
- A supported order update produces a delivered WhatsApp message whose displayed statuses match the updated Shopify order.
- The campaign report confirms delivery. Any failed row is reviewed using its Response field.
What the supplied notification screenshot establishes
It shows received notification messages and the customer’s COD confirmation exchange. Check Shopify and the campaign report separately to verify the resulting tag, cancellation action, recovered order, fulfillment status, and delivery record.
Common Troubleshooting
Key Takeaways for Shopify WhatsApp Automation
- Connect Shopify through the BotSailor app authorization flow, then configure each automation campaign separately.
- Use approved templates and retain the appropriate system variables for customer, cart, order, and status information.
- Treat Order Notifications, COD Verification, Abandoned Cart Recovery, and Order Update Notifications as separate actions with their own tests.
- Check both the customer’s WhatsApp message and the corresponding Shopify record or campaign report.
- Match each verification result to the exact order or abandoned checkout that triggered it.
Next Steps
After the initial tests, review your message wording, variable mapping, links, and campaign delay for each automation. Repeat the tests after changing templates or campaign settings, and use the delivery reports to investigate failures.
Success
Your setup is ready for the tested workflows when each intended Shopify event produces the correct WhatsApp message, each customer action performs its configured task, and the matching Shopify records and campaign reports confirm the result.
